The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a magical place to be when the leaves turn green and the first wildflowers start to bloom in the lush hardwood coves. Maybe that's the reason I've been helping lead other nature photographers to this magical National Park for over ten years.

great smoky mountains national park digital nature photography workshopIn addition to the well-known and oft-photographed locations, I will lead you to some quiet, less-traveled areas of the Park. The photographic activities are not physically strenuous and are designed for beginners and advanced photographers alike. The maximum size of the group will be limited to 10 participants, for the sake of maintaining a productive learning environment.

Lodging and the base of our "operations" will be the Tally Ho Inn in Townsend, Tennessee. Mountain Trail Photo Workshops has a block of rooms reserved at a group rate for participating photographers. Once you have registered, this information will be forwarded to you.

While visiting each of the locations within the Park, I will personally be teaching and instructing on the basics of proper exposure with a digital camera, creating dynamic compositions, macro and close-up photography, intimate scenics, and the secrets to capturing inspiring sunrises and sunsets. A digital camera, tripod, sturdy walking shoes or boots, and a desire to learn are all that are needed. A laptop is nice to have but not a necessity.
